Local internet celeb Nelson Phan (彭树山) aka Nelson James Bond 007 (鸟神) has never been quiet about his distaste for Singaporean actor Wang Lei (王雷). However, their animosity against each other recently cumulated in a public brawl during the Thai Cultural Event in Penang!
On 4th November, the event had been proceeding as planned with Wang Lei’s son, Sell Fish Boy (卖鱼仔, 伟雄), touring the area. However, Nelson Phan’s arrival came as an unexpected shock, especially after he attempted to manhandle Wang Lei’s son off-camera.
Apparently, Nelson had been gearing up to the confrontation, even videoing himself strutting into the fair while looking for his target. Once located, he had strolled up to Wang Lei’s son, placed an arm around his shoulder and gestured for others to leave.
Wang Lei’s son struggled to get away, panicking the crowd but when he did, Nelson made to go after him again, prompting a lady and several Thai Hot Guys to step in to diffuse the situation. Allegedly, the Thai Hot Guys had been there as guests of Wang Lei’s son and had been livestreaming with him.
Nelson was also seen attempting to lash out at Wang Lei’s son, chasing him and kicking in his direction despite being restrained. Another man in a white shirt too got in on the brawl, attacking Wang Lei’s son as well. Many have assumed he had come with Nelson. After the upset, Nelson could be heard yelling for someone to call the police.
Nelson Phan later claimed his target had not been Wang Lei’s son, but Wang Lei himself. Supposedly, he has had beef with the Singaporean actor over alleged “provocations and indecent acts” which happened last year (2022). “I already said not to play with our (Malaysian) women,” the internet celebrity reportedly stated. Nelson also claimed that Wang Lei’s son had been the one to strike first.
Afterwards, Nelson reported that he was doing fine, adding he had already taken the matter to the police. On the other hand, Wang Lei’s son also reported he was safe via his socials, claiming: “I believe in Malaysia’s justice system.” Wang Lei, who allegedly returned to Singapore on 3rd November, also commented on the post, saying: “Dad is very proud of you, you did the right thing this time!”
However, local entreprenuer Dato’ Tony Looi Chee Hong (雷智雄) claims Nelson Phan is simply jealous. He alleged Nelson’s real reason for acting out is due to Wang Lei turning him down over a collaboration.
In spite of the altercation, the Thai Cultural Event in Penang will still continue as planned, and relevant authorities have declared they do not condone violence, in light of the issue. On our end, we hope they will be able to resolve the issue in the future.
