We’ve heard plenty of extravagant holiday stories from the young, rich and famous – but should their lavish lifestyles be worshipped? Last week, a tweet about entrepreneur Natasha Ozeir and her lavish trip to Las Vegas to catch British singer Adele live in person went viral.

The user, Adlie, tweeted, “This is the definition of seven generations of wealth,” along with a video from Natasha’s TikTok account showing her and her friends, Nadia Nasimuddin, Nina Sabrina Ismail Sabri and Chryseis Tan, during their travels from Malaysia to Las Vegas.

In another tweet, Adlie added the price of the concert tickets, based on an estimation from where the girls were seated, judging from the videos Natasaha took while at the concert. According to the tweet, the tickets would range from over USD 2,000 to USD 30,000, meaning that the tickets would cost at least RM 9,400 after exchanging to the local currency.

After posting about their Vegas trip, Natasha, Nadia, Nina and Chryseis received tons of comments from netizens who were in awe of their extravagant holiday. Many were also envious that the women saw Adele up close during the concert. However, some thought the ‘girls’ trip’ promoted overspending, adding that the lavish lifestyle is detrimental to the environment.

According to several tweets, the trip would have contributed to a higher carbon footprint as private jets produce more carbon emissions than commercial flights. The tweets also had many netizens warning against idolising the rich just because of their lavish lifestyles.

There were also a few who said the four women’s wealth is attributed to generational wealth because aside from Natasha’s family owning a plantation in Sabah, Nadia is the daughter of late Naza Group founder Tan Sri Nasimuddin, Nina is the daughter of former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri, and Chryseis is the daughter of businessman Vincent Tan. However, it is worth noting that all four are also entrepreneurs who founded multiple businesses.

What do you think about the group showing off their extravagant girl’s trip? Are netizens overreacting or are they right to criticise?
