The investigation into the murder of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh (谢侑芯) continues. Until now, Malaysian singer Namewee (黄明志) remains the case’s only known suspect, with authorities recently extending his bail.
According to reports, the police bail for the singer, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, has been extended for another 14 days, beginning 27th November (Thursday) until 10th December (Wednesday). Namewee was previously in remand for a little over a week before being released on police bail on 13th November.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that the bail extension was made on 26th November (Wednesday), at 4pm. He explained that the extension is because police were still waiting for Iris’ toxicology and post-mortem reports. However, Namewee is subject to being summoned for investigations at any time if the police find new evidence.
As of now, there’s no telling whether Namewee had a role in Iris’ untimely passing. The 42-year-old was the last person seen with the Taiwanese social media personality before her death last October. Authorities also suggested that the two had a special relationship, but never disclosed additional details.

Meanwhile, Namewee continued to express regret over Iris’ death, even saying he did everything he could to save her. At the same time, he recently released a song titled “Misread Me” through his social media pages. The song contained lyrics criticising the media and the public’s reaction to his involvement in Iris’ death.
Additionally, Namewee is also facing charges for drug use and possession, with his hearing scheduled for 18th December (Thursday). Only time will tell what the result of this investigation will be. What are your thoughts on this?
