Yesterday (Sunday,12th May), the Malaysian entertainment industry was shocked by the revelation regarding one of Malaysia’s top radio announcers, Abdul Halim Othman. Actress Myra Natasya came forward to disclose her truth; revealing that she is the illegitimate daughter of radio presenter Halim Othman. Myra revealed that her parents, Halim and her mother, never married in Thailand as previously asserted.
For context, back in April 2022, the actress disclosed to mStar the “truth” behind her full name and family history, shedding light on her parents’ “unceremonious divorce” in Thailand when she was just 1. Fast forward to this year, she’s finally opening up on what she’s endured over the years.

According to mStar, despite the lack of a formal marriage, for many years, Myra has assured her father that she would safeguard his name within the entertainment industry. She even fabricated the tale of their Thai marriage if questioned. She had to maintain this facade to protect her father’s reputation rather than the other way around.
However, the 29-year-old’s revelation didn’t come without its challenges. She expressed her dismay over Halim’s unilateral decision to alter her original birth certificate without her consent, inserting his name as her father at the National Registration Department (JPN) three years prior. His dismissive response, claiming gratitude for her existence without consulting her, only fueled Myra’s frustration.
The young celeb felt abandoned by her father’s actions, who not only ignored her but also attempted to obscure their true relationship. Despite repeated pleas over the years, the actress struggled to convince the radio announcer to acknowledge their familial ties. It wasn’t until 2019, after embarking on her acting career, that her father reluctantly allowed her to reveal their reality to the public.

Local media has since reached out to the 59-year-old radio presenter to comment regarding the incident, however, he simply replied with, “No comments. Happy Mother’s Day.” Netizens have been giving Myra support for her bravery and told her “It was not her fault for being born in this world,” while some questioned her for not “handling this matter in private” and choosing to expose this “to the media.”
Let’s hope Myra and her father can resolve their issues privately and amicably. May they find understanding and healing away from public scrutiny. The actress also shared more details on why she’s upset with her father’s decision in an interview below:
