There are people who don’t like to be pranked and there are those who simply don’t fall for pranks no matter how hard you try. You can pull the most elaborate prank ever but if someone is extremely perceptive and can see right through, you might as well just flip the table and call it a day.
But it’s not everyday you get to successfully prank your boss, even if you two are close friends outside of work. The staff members of Mydin managed to pull a prank for their Managing Director on his birthday with a little help from his wife. Don’t worry, no one got fired.
Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, or simply Datuk Ameer is the current owner and Managing Director of Mydin and he’s also the son of the company’s founder, Gulam Husen Jamal. He recently turned 66 years old and what better way to celebrate your 66th birthday than to be pranked by your employees?
In a video posted by Mydin Malaysia on their official Instagram, we can see the managing director in a car with his wife, Datin Dr Siti Hawa on their way to an event when suddenly their driver said that there was something wrong with the car. Before the couple were asked to exit the car, we can see Datin Siti making sure that the prank is going smoothly.
A Mydin truck “coincidentally” appeared from behind them where they had a lift to the event. The 66-year-old noticed the camera in the vehicle and questioned the truck driver a few times but his attention was successfully diverted up until they reached their destination. Datuk Ameer was definitely surprised to find out that the event and his car breaking down were part of a prank to celebrate his birthday.
“It was definitely a surprise so give a round of applause to everybody involved in making this happen,” he said in his birthday speech at the event in Subang Jaya. The ceremony was filled with Mydin staff members, a screen displaying the words “Happy Birthday” and of course, there was cake!
The owner then thanked everyone for their effort and for the surprise party. We’re glad to see that the birthday prank went well with little to no problem. Happy Belated Birthday Datuk Ameer!
