The Covid-19 pandemic has taken a huge toll on many people in the country, including those in the entertainment industry. Unable to earn a stable income, some of our local celebs had resorted to other jobs in order to survive.

Malaysian actor Kardanie Anwa, or perhaps more known as Danny X-Factor, was one of the many celebs who found themselves at a roadblock. Speaking in an interview with Berita Harian, the local celeb stated that he’s not ashamed to share that he enjoys his side job as a Grab driver, due to its steady income.

According to Danny, he has been working as a GrabCar driver for five years. He also revealed that the job has been a “lifesaver” for him throughout the pandemic. “I’ve been doing all types of work, I drive (with) Grab, sell burgers, cooking oil, and much more. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, as long as my income is ‘halal’ and I don’t defraud others,” he told the news outlet.

The “Budak Kelantan” actor added, “Actually, I have been working as a Grab driver since 2017. This is the job that saved me when the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced in the past. During that time, my wife, who worked as a flight attendant, was also unable to earn an income. That was the time when I realised that working as a Grab driver helped me a lot. Working as a driver for Grab is more profitable as compared to (working in) showbiz. My income can reach between RM400 and RM500 per day.”

Danny also shared that he is comfortable working as a GrabCar driver thanks to its flexibility. According to the 42-year-old celeb, “I can also meet friends, have a chat, and so on. I started working as a driver for Grab after seeing my friends doing the same job.”

Now that showbiz has been picking up the pace, Danny hasn’t been able to Grab as often. “I took a short break (from becoming a driver for Grab) because I was busy with acting and other work in the entertainment scene,” the “Sehangat Api” singer concluded the chat.

For those who don’t know, Danny debuted as a member of the boy group X-Factor back in the year 2000. He’s also known as an actor, having acted in movies such as “Seri Dewi Malam”, “Idola” and “KL Menjerit 1”.
