The Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project claimed the life of another construction worker, when a temporary structure collapsed at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) MRT underground construction site.

A total of 4 Bangladeshi workers were killed in 2 separate incidents in February 2015 (where 1 died at the V4 Semantan portal) and August 2014 (where 3 died at the MRT site near Kota Damansara).

In the latest incident, a Bangladeshi worker who is only identified as Sakiful was dismantling a temporary structure used for a slab work when it gave way at 1:15am today, MRT Corp said. He was trapped under debris and rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur, where he died. He was employed by subcontractor SP Mega Sdn Bhd.

According to The Star Online, his fellow workers escaped unhurt.

The contractor is liaising with the Bangladeshi High Commission and making arrangements to send his remains home, it said in a statement .The accident site has been sealed for investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Department and other agencies, MRT Corp said.
