Marvel In Advanced Negotiations To Shoot #DoctorStrange In UK

Despite a slight hiccup in casting the lead actor, Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” is definitely a go.

Previously, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed with Total Film at Barcelona’s CineEurope that the film will start shooting in Spring 2015. However, no announcement was ever made about the shooting date. But now, Screen Daily is reporting that the studio has entered its final stage of negotiations to shoot “Doctor Strange” at Pinewood-Shepperton in England next year.

The Screen Daily also confirmed the release date for “Doctor Strange” as Marvel has reportedly dated the film’s release for 8th July 2016. The production team is all set to move to Shepperton before the unconfirmed shoot date in May 2015. As of now, Marvel’s upcoming film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is in its post-production stage while Ant-Man is currently shooting at Pinewood’s new Atlanta studios in the US.

So far, it has only been confirmed that Deliver Us From Evil director Scott Derrickson will direct “Doctor Strange” while Prometheus screenwriter Jon Spaihts will rewrite the script. The cast has not been confirmed but it was reported that Joaquin Phoenix is still in final negotiations to get the lead role.

Now, it seems like the unconfirmed cast and the filming location have become the deal-breaker for “Doctor Strange”. If Joaquin Phoenix is not going to be Doctor Stephen Strange, who do you think will take the lead role?
