Movie Tea: Blumhouse Drops “M3GAN 2.0” Teaser; Harrison Ford To Play Next Hulk In MCU?

by Kiran P Ganesan
February 3, 2025

This February is full of love – and we’re absolutely obsessed with the latest movie news coming out of Hollywood!

From a killer robot about to rock your world, to an iconic actor delivering an earth-shattering performance – here are the latest developments surrounding two highly-anticipated upcoming films:

M3GAN 2.0 Teaser Drops During The Grammys

YouTube video

After many delays, “M3GAN 2.0,” the sequel to the shocking horror hit from 2023, is finally back! Much like its surprise success in its first go at the box office, the killer doll has shocked the world again with a cheeky little teaser for its sequel during this year’s Grammys. In the brief teaser, we see the killer doll’s silhouette as she struts her stuff before coming into the light and announcing her return — on 27th June.

For those unfamiliar with the movie, it follows M3GAN (which stands for a Model 3 Generative Android) – an AI doll who takes care of a little girl named Cady (played by Violet McGraw) after the death of her parents. However, she becomes a tad bit too attached to her ward and kills anyone who tries to hurt or take Cady from her. It dominated the Halloween 2023 box office, raking in US$181 million on a US$12 million production budget. It was such a phenomenon that Blumhouse immediately greenlit a sequel, which is now around the corner.

Though there isn’t much to go on in the trailer, we do know that M3GAN will be bringing her bitchy A-game to the big screen once more, just from the text and quick wink. The teaser largely showcases the killer robot dancing the viral moves it popularised in the original film’s first few marketing runs.

Blumhouse will continue to experiment with this niche genre, so if you are searching for more “M3GAN” or M3GAN-like movies, you are in luck. The production house confirmed that they will be expanding the universe with another movie called “Soulm8te,” which is locked in for a 2026 release. Sources state that it is an erotic thriller featuring another AI twist, with the description reading, “acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.”

Harrison Ford Discusses Possibility Of Playing Next Hulk

“Captain America: Brave New World” is slated to be the first MCU film of 2025. It features Anthony Mackie as he reprises his role as Sam Wilson, who navigates the world as the new Captain America. In the trailers alone, we know that Sam will be facing down Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who later becomes the Red Hulk.

With Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk being relegated if not left behind in the streaming world, many people are wondering if Ford asked for some pointers from the veteran in the role. Ford claimed in an interview with On Demand Entertainment that Ruffalo “was not available for a consultation” and that they were left with no other option but to “wing it.” He then went on to add that he hopes Ruffalo isn’t disappointed with his performance. However, he remained respectful to the MCU veteran, especially since this is his first time joining the franchise.

Furthermore, Ford is stepping in not only as the new Hulk in the franchise, but also as the new Ross. Dedicated fans would know that the late William Hurt originally held the role, all the way back to the original 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk” movie. In a previous interview, the Indiana Jones star stated that he is under immense pressure to live up to expectations, elaborating that “it then becomes your responsibility to fill out the shoes that have walked before you.”

Despite his mournful outlook, he fulfilled his promise to fill those shoes, which his co-stars and production team said was done fantastically. The film’s director, Julius Onah, summarised his performance as “mind-blowing.” With these comments alone, as well as Ford’s track record, it’s safe to say that we might be in for a treat, and this might be the film that could rope fans back into the larger MCU timeline.

“Captain America: Brave New World” will land in theatres this 14th February.
