MODU Brings Korea’s Famous Ginseng Chicken Soup To The Exchange TRX

The viral Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup restaurant from Singapore, MODU, is now open at The Exchange TRX—and it’s bringing all the flavour, warmth, and style that made it a hit across the Causeway.

Known as the “Hermès of Samgyetang,” MODU has built a cult following in Singapore for turning the humble Korean ginseng chicken soup (Samgyetang) into a full-on luxury dining experience. And now, KL-ites can finally get a taste of this viral wellness dish without having to fly out.

A Samgyetang Experience Like No Other

MODU takes Korean comfort food to the next level with its signature Samgyetang, a dish rooted in Korea’s centuries-old boyang-sik (보양식) healing food tradition. Each bowl is slow-simmered for hours with premium ingredients, creating a rich, nourishing broth that’s equal parts comforting and elegant—the kind of soul food that makes you slow down and savour every spoonful.

It’s more than just a meal; it’s Korean heritage elevated for the modern palate. After winning hearts in Singapore and being featured by The Straits Times and Eatbook.sg, MODU is now making its Malaysian debut at The Exchange TRX.

What Sets MODU Apart

MODU gives the iconic Samgyetang a modern spin with six unique versions that go beyond your usual ginseng chicken soup. Choose from the classic Hanbang Samgyetang, creamy Perilla Seed, nutty Black Sesame, nourishing Ogol-gye (Black Chicken), skin-loving Beauty Collagen, or spicy Hangover Samgyetang. Each version brings something new to the table—flavourful, hearty, and packed with wellness benefits.

Made with Halal-certified chicken, ginseng, and jujube, every bowl is slow-simmered for 12 hours to achieve that rich, collagen-filled broth Koreans swear by. Once served to royalty as a symbol of strength and longevity, this traditional dish now gets a luxurious upgrade that’s both comforting and refined.

Set within The Exchange TRX, MODU’s sleek Hanok-inspired interiors blend traditional Korean charm with modern elegance. Private VIP rooms add a touch of exclusivity, while the no-pork, no-lard, no-alcohol menu makes it a guilt-free indulgence for everyone to enjoy.

MODU’s Signature Samgyetang Dishes

  • Hanbang Samgyetang –Tender chicken, glutinous rice, and herbs with jujube slow-cooked for a rich, nourishing soup that boosts energy and immunity.
  • Perilla Seed Samgyetang – A creamy, milky broth made from perilla seeds rich in antioxidants and great for digestion.
    <>
  • Black Sesame Samgyetang – A nutty version of the classic made with black sesame, known for supporting digestion and healthy skin.
  • Black Chicken Samgyetang (Ogol-gye) –Made with premium black chicken for a lean, flavour-packed soup that feels both luxurious and restorative.
  • Beauty Collagen Samgyetang –A wellness-focused version filled with beauty herbs, Omega-3, and calcium to boost skin health and strengthen bones.
  • Spicy Hangover Samgyetang –For the bold eaters, this fiery soup with ginseng, garlic, and glutinous rice helps recharge your body after a long night out.

Beyond the Samyetang Bowls

It’s not just about the soup. MODU also offers a range of sides and appetisers that show off the diversity of Korean cuisine—from Minari Watersnail Salad and crispy Fried Enoki to Tofu Samhap and classic Minari or Potato Pancakes.

And for dessert? Go for their Black Sesame Ice Cream or Dried Persimmon for a modern take on traditional Korean sweets. Or, if you’re up for something lighter, step next door to TOFU G, MODU’s tofu-based gelato concept that’s quickly becoming a must-try.

A Modern Hanok Experience at the Heart of TRX

Step inside MODU and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a sleek, modern Hanok in Seoul. Covering over 3,000 square feet, the space is designed with warm wood tones, Korean latticework, and soft lighting that create a calm, cosy vibe. Diners can even watch the chefs in action at the open kitchen or enjoy a private meal in one of the VIP suites.

OMEGA Launch, Sephora Takeover, FILA Debut & More: Dope Events We Hit Up This Week!

MODU has already been featured by The Straits Times, Tatler Asia, and Time Out Singapore, earning praise for its beautiful design and refined flavours. Its signature O-gol-gye Samgyetang even appeared in the Korean drama Bon Appétit — solidifying its status as the ultimate comfort dish.

Whether you’re here for a comforting bowl of Samgyetang or a scoop of tofu gelato, MODU and TOFU G deliver a dining experience that blends tradition, wellness, and style. Located at The Exchange TRX, this duo brings a taste of Seoul’s modern elegance straight to the heart of KL.

MODU Samgyetang is now open at The Exchange TRX, Level 2 Dining Terrace (L2T.04.0 & L2T.05.0), Kuala Lumpur. Call 011-7575 8000 to book or visit @modu.trx on Instagram for the latest updates.
