Earlier this year, Miss Hong Kong 2022 (香港小姐競選)’s runner-up Cecca Xu (許子萱) was involved in quite the bombshell. There were rumours that the bold beauty had requested to terminate her contract with TVB!
Cecca Xu later denied the rumours, claiming that she would be sticking with her responsibilities at TVB. However, on 4th September, it was revealed that she might have changed her plans. Apparently, the 25-year-old officially announced her “resignation” to further her studies instead.
Cecca made the reveal on her Douyin with a video showing backstage scenes from the recent Miss Hong Kong 2023 finals. She certainly seemed like she had a lot of fun, meeting old friends and her juniors and simply carrying the Miss Hong Kong name. However, she mentioned in her video title that she had also “finally resigned officially”.
“I have been incredibly fortunate in the past year, having the opportunity to meet established figures who shine in various industries. They have truly inspired me and sparked my creativity,” she mentioned in her video. “However, I often think about how far I can go and where my limits lie. If life is a game, then we should play it to the fullest.”
Cecca went on to announce that she would be pursuing further studies at the University of Oxford in the UK. “I believe that experiences and knowledge complement each other, and one cannot be missing. I am also excited to share with everyone what I learn and experience in this new chapter of my life,” she added.
Notably enough, Cecca had previously spoken about how to apply for a spot at Oxford and Cambridge universities. While a few netizens did question her decision, the majority were heavily supportive and praised her intellectuality.
