Looks like former 2NE1 member Minzy Kong (공민지) will make her return to the music scene sooner than we thought!
It was reported that the artiste has signed an exclusive contract with The Music Works and the entertainment agency confirmed the news in an official statement on 16th May.
The label also houses other talented artistes, such as Baek Ji Young, Yoo Sung Eun, Song Yoo Bin, and Produce 101’s Kim So Hee.
“Kong Minzy is an artiste who has unlimited potential for growth in many different areas. In order for her to achieve the very best of her talent, we’re going to support her in a wide variety of activities. Outside of her talent, we think that Kong Minzy is an upstanding person with high values. So in accordance with that trust, we will work with her and support her so she can grow and develop,” stated a representative from The Music Works.
The label added that the star is planning to write her own music and will help foster the agency’s new talents. She is currently training My Teen, a new rookie group that will be debuting next year.
22-year-old Minzy debuted through YG Entertainment’s 2NE1 in 2009 with “Fire” and the group quickly became one of the most popular female idol groups in K-Pop. She left the group on 5th April 2016 to pursue a solo career.
