Singer-actress Miley Cyrus has not been on good terms with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. The tension seems to have reached a point where she didn’t even acknowledge him during her acceptance speech at last year’s Grammy Awards. The two have reportedly been estranged since Billy married his second (now ex-) wife, Firerose.
However, it appears that Miley isn’t the only one who feels this way about the country star, as her brother, Trace Cyrus, shares the same sentiment. The former Metro Station member shared an emotional post on Instagram, urging their father to make amends in his life. Here’s what he said:
Yesterday (Thursday, 23rd January), Trace Cyrus shared an emotional post about his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, following the latter’s recent disastrous performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. In his post, the musician first recalled the day he was adopted by the “Achy Breaky Heart” artist, describing it as the happiest day of his life. He then expressed concern about his father’s well-being, stating that everyone in the family has tried to reach out to him over the years, but to no avail.
“It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better,” he wrote. The 35-year-old also suggested that Billy may have relapsed into his alcohol and drug abuse saying that his father was “not healthy and everyone is noticing it.”
“As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realise this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you, Dad. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me,” Trace concluded his emotional post. Billy Ray has yet to publically respond to his son’s plea.
Meanwhile, the other Cyrus siblings have yet to comment on Trace’s post. It was previously reported that Miley has no intention of reuniting with her father following alleged leaked audio recordings of him calling her “the devil” and a “skank”. At this point, it’s unclear whether the superstar’s family will ever return to how they were before.
