Yes, the iconic Korean drama “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” will be remade as a Thai adaptation called “Scarlet Heart Thailand”. The series is originally based on the Chinese novel that was first published in 2005. Since then, there have been continuous adaptations in various media, including the 2011 Chinese drama adaptation “Bu Bu Jing Xin” and the sensational 2016 Korean drama, starring IU, Lee Joon-gi, and Kang Ha-neul.
Fans were surprised when GMMTV recently dropped the first trailer for the upcoming remake. The 2-minute and 58-second-long teaser gave viewers a glimpse of each of the characters, and judging by the costumes in the teaser, the drama appears to be set during the Rattanakosin period. There has yet to be any confirmation for the official date of the premiere. However, a lot of excitement is already in the air. Here’s a sneak peek:

Ahead of the airing date, let’s get to know the star-studded faces that will join the Thai drama.
Tu Tontawan
Leading the series is the well-loved actress Tu Tontawan, who recently shot to fame when she starred as Gorya in “F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers”. She will be playing the role of Fongnuan/Boon, a modern-day girl who is thrown back in time. She encounters the princes and finds herself entangled in the political intrigues of the royal court.
Win Metawin
A household name in Thailand, Win Metawin earned his breakthrough as Tine in “2gether: The Series” and has been endeared internationally since. He will portray the 4th Prince, Prince Mueang Fah. As the leading male lead, he plays a ruthless and complex fourth prince who pulls at viewers’ heartstrings as the ultimate tragic hero. His romance with Tu’s character will shine some much-needed light. This will also be the second time he acts with Tu after “F4 Thailand”.
Nanon Korapat
Nanon Korapat, popularly known for his lead roles in “The Gifted” and “Bad Buddy”, will be taking the role of the 8th Prince, Prince Saen Thep. He plays a gentle, kind-hearted and dependable character, and he often finds himself torn between feelings and duty. He will be a rival in the battle for both love and the throne against Win’s character.
Tay Tawan
Formerly a host, Tay Tawan has starred in a string of films and dramas since he first made his acting debut in 2014. As the clever 3rd Prince, Prince Intharach, his character yearns for power and glory and is very ambitious, with a keen eye for the throne. This is Tay’s first villainous role as he rivals with Win’s character.
Force Jiratchapong
Rising star Force Jiratchapong aims to earn some major love through the drama. He will be playing the role of the 9th Prince, Prince Pha Wiang, as well as an ally of the 3rd Prince. While his character is conceited and narcissistic, he still flutters hearts with his sharp profile and good looks!
Perth Tanapon
Famous for his role as Ae in “Love by Chance”, Perth Tanapon has established himself as a singer and has appeared in several dramas and variety shows since 2017. He plays the jovial, child-like 10th Prince, Prince Kong Thai. He has a ‘love at first sight’ crush on Tu’s character, and his playfulness and mischievous personality brighten the darkest days.
Phuwin Tangsakyuen
Phuwin Tangsakyuen first entered the entertainment industry at the age of 11, before making his breakout role in 2021 as Pi in “Fish Upon the Sky”. He will play the good-looking 13th Prince, Prince Fah Ham. With his relaxed and steadfast demeanour, he stands out as the swoon-worthy prince who takes a keen interest in art and culture rather than involving himself with the politics of the time.
Fourth Nattawat
Known for his role in “My School President”, Fourth Nattawat is already well on his way to becoming a household name. He portrays the 14th Prince, Prince Chom Han. As the youngest prince, he’s known for his selfless and unconditional love. He quietly supports Tu’s character through her emotional turmoil and stays by her side until the end.
