You’ve got a few more months left to settle your summonses in Petaling Jaya because according to The Star Online, traffic offenders who failed to do so will be barred by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) from renewing their road taxes.
The English-language daily reported that MBPJ will bar traffic offenders from renewing their road taxes starting March 2016.
Details of the offenders will reportedly be submitted to the Road Transport Department (JPJ), which will then bar the car owners from renewing their road taxes.
In the same report, Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain was quoted as saying that MBPJ received approval from JPJ that enabled them to carry out the drastic action from the department last month.
It was revealed that MBPJ has a total of 4.1 million unpaid traffic summonses amounting to RM100 million.
In an effort to encourage traffic offendrs to settle summonses before the deadline, Azizi added that MBPJ will offer an 80% discount until 29th February.
