Marvel Studios has officially returned Avengers: Endgame to theaters with Avengers: Endgame Encore, an extended cut featuring four minutes of newly produced teaser footage designed to bridge the Infinity Saga finale directly to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Shot directly during the production of Doomsday, the newly integrated scenes offer fans critical setup regarding multiversal instabilities and the arrival of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom ahead of the film’s theatrical premiere on December 18.
The fresh additions open with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki visiting Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter immediately following their time-travel reunion, warning them about the timeline disruptions caused by Cap’s decision to remain in the past.
A subsequent sequence at the Time Variance Authority features Mobius, Ouroboros (O.B.), Casey, and Miss Minutes observing up to 3000 mentioned numbered Earth’s including the X-Men universe of Earth 10005 colliding with other Earth’s as the multiverse collapses.
A mid-credits scene following Spider-Man: Brand New Day, depicts Bruce Banner in an underground bunker attempting to synthesize a Hulk-suppression serum before being confronted by Doctor Doom, with the masked villain eventually kidnapping Banner before he Hulks out and leaving his glowing green runes on the floor of Banner’s cell.
Finally, a closing post-credits tag recontextualizes the iconic metal-forging audio from the original 2019 release, revealing Doctor Doom hammering his own iron mask into shape.
