At the moment, no director or actor is attached to the movie but a source hinted that Wahlberg is eyeing one of the roles. “Patriots’ Day” is based on the account of Boston Police commissioner Ed Davis. Matt Charman is writing the screenplay and Nicholas Nesbitt is the executive producer of the movie.

Davis worked with the FBI, Watertown Police Department, Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and local first responders to track down and arrest the suspected bombers. The announcement came on March 31st (Tuesday) as the defence rested its case in the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is accused of the attack in April, 2013.

“Patriots’ Day” makes for the first collaboration between “60 Minutes” and CBS Films. Radutzky is a “60 Minutes” senior producer who leads the broadcast’s creative development unit, 60 Minutes Productions.

CBS Films has secured Davis’ life rights as well as the information in connection with the “60 Minutes” story in which he appeared.

Wahlberg, a Boston native has portrayed Bostonians in “The Departed,” “The Fighter” and “Ted.”
