NCT (엔시티) member Mark (마크) has announced he’s leaving SM Entertainment after the conclusion of his exclusive contract. With his departure, the idol is also leaving his group and subunits, NCT 127 (엔시티 127) and NCT DREAM (엔시티 드림).
SM Entertainment shared the news earlier today (Friday, 3rd April 2026) through NCT’s Weverse communities. The statement writes, “After a long period of careful and thoughtful discussion with Mark regarding his future activities, we have mutually agreed to conclude his exclusive contract as of 8th April (Wednesday). MARK will conclude all activities as a member of NCT, including NCT 127 and NCT DREAM.”

NCT 127 will continue as a seven-member group, with Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo and Haechan. Meanwhile, NCT DREAM will continue as a six-member group, with Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung. Mark is also the leader of NCT DREAM. The group also recently concluded the encore concert for their “The Dream Show 4: Dream the Future” tour.
Mark debuted with NCT in 2016, becoming one of the group’s pillar members with his talent and versatility. He made his highly anticipated solo debut in April 2026 with his debut studio album, “The Firstfruit”. Besides NCT, Mark was also a member of SuperM, SM Entertainment’s supergroup, alongside SHINee’s Taemin, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, WayV’s Ten, Lucas and his groupmate Taeyong.
Following the announcement, Mark shared handwritten letters in Korean and English on his Instagram account. In the letters, the idol looked back at his time at SM Entertainment, recalling how the company and his groupmate have supported him and his dream throughout the years. He thanked fans for their love, noting that his departure will open new opportunities for him. NCT DREAM members have also reacted to the post, sharing their support.
Fans are understandably shocked by the announcement, but Mark assured that he’ll continue working hard to bring more good news soon. Whatever happens, we wish Mark all the best in his future endeavours.
