Marigold HL milk consumers in Malaysia, heads up.
Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd has issued an immediate recall of its Marigold HL Milk via an official statement dated 15th October 2016 (Saturday). According to the company, the precautionary and voluntary recall is in response to customer feedback on the viscosity of its Marigold HL chocolate milk that appeared higher than usual.
Note: Viscosity refers to the thickness of a liquid. For example, honey has a much higher viscosity than water.
“While customer feedback is specifically on the Marigold HL chocolate milk, nevertheless Malaysia Milk is taking proactive measures to recall other products including Marigold HL plain milk (200ml & 1L), Marigold HL strawberry milk (200ml & 1l), and Marigold HL with plant sterols (1L),” Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd said, adding that its Quality Control Unit and Manufacturing team had ascertained the source of the issue and subsequently rectified it.
As it turns out, the quality of the milk was compromised due to bacterial contamination. Side effects of consuming the compromised quality of milk may include mild stomach discomfort, but there are no long term side effects. To add on, Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd General Manager Poh Eng Lip also confirmed that an additional and more stringent Quality Control is now in place on finished products to keep a daily check on products to ensure conformity with the highest international standards.
“Malaysia Milk wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this product recall. Our customers’ health and safety is our top priority and we are doing everything we can to provide as much information and support as possible,” the company said.
The recall affects Marigold HL Milk products that come in 200ml and 1-litre packages with an expiry date of up till 7th November 2016 for Peninsular Malaysia and 11th November for Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.
Customers who have purchased the affected products are advised to return them to Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd for a replacement or contact their customer service team at 1800-885587 or feedback@mmsb.com.my.
