Many have warned us about the dangers of doing drugs since we were young and there have been plenty of cases of drug addicts acting aggressively while under the influence. This poor woman, unfortunately, fell victim to the hands of her alleged drug addict husband.

Earlier this week, a 28-year-old man was arrested by authorities after he allegedly burned his wife alive after she and other family members accused him of drug abuse. According to a report by NST and a statement by Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the incident occurred at the couple’s home in Kampung Bharu, Manjung, Perak on Monday (10th July).

Police were dispatched after receiving a distress call from the victim’s younger brother around 6:42pm. The 33-year-old victim was immediately rushed to Seri Manjung Hospital to receive treatment. However, the victim was confirmed to have passed away at 12:20pm yesterday (Wednesday, 12th July). Through investigation, it was found that the suspect was furious over the accusation of drug abuse that he decided to burn his wife alive.

He was later found at a local restaurant where police then arrested him. “The man has been remanded for a week until 18th July to facilitate the investigation,” said District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah. He also added that a post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday (13th July) to determine the victim’s cause of death.

From several reports, it was never mentioned if the suspect was under the influence at the time of the reported murder or if he really was a drug addict, as accused by his wife and family. After the news broke out, netizens were horrified to learn about the terrifying ordeal. Many commented that the husband was clearly a drug addict for him to act so viciously. Others advised women to carefully choose their spouse to avoid sharing the same fate as the victim.

At the time of writing, there has been no update on the case other than it being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. If found guilty, the accused will be sentenced to the death penalty.
