As we enter the start of MCO 2.0 today (Wednesday, 13th January), the public are urged to stay at home and adhere to the SOPs. With that in mind, businesses in our country are bound to be affected.

As such, Johor Bahru City Square has decided to temporary close down the mall from now till 26th January 2021. Perhaps this is necessary to cut down further losses?

The management took to its Facebook page last night to release the following statement:

“In line with the recent MCO announcement to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mall Management has decided that proper course of action is to close Johor Bahru City Square (JBCS) for the duration of the MCO from 13th to 26th January 2021.

For any queries please PM us via Facebook and follow us on FB for updates. Please stay safe and let’s continue to play our part.”

Some of the comments on JBCS’ post read:

  • “Take care all…. looking forward to visit CS after the dust is settled.”
  • “Great decision to all party. CS will be back again!”
  • “Lucky.. I was at CS today to buy paint brushes at Popular and pick up my order of the modelling kits. I’m going to miss you guys.”
  • “Great move. Safety and health more important.”

With over 200 retailers under one roof, this JB mall has seen a decrease in footfall ever since the pandemic started early last year. Previously in 2019, there used to be some 10.2 million visitors from Singapore alone. However, the dearth of patrons in the shopping centre has been inevitable.
