Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s first five-star luxury hotel recognised and certified by the Department of National Heritage Malaysia for championing authentic Malaysian Heritage Cuisine, collaborates with Oriental Kopi, one of the nation’s most beloved kopitiam – heritage inspired, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
From 3 to 17 June 2026, guests are invited to experience a limited-time culinary showcase at the Lobby Lounge, where Malaysian comfort flavours are presented within an elegant setting that reflects Shangri-La’s signature Asian hospitality.
Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Oriental Kopi come together to celebrate Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage as the country welcomes visitors from around the world. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the authentic flavours of local kopi culture and beloved Malaysian home cooking, thoughtfully presented for both local guests and international travellers discovering the country for the first time.
At the heart of the collaboration are two homegrown brands that have each contributed to shaping Malaysia’s dining culture in their own way. Founded by Dato’ Calvin Chan Jian Chern, Oriental Kopi is recognised for preserving the familiarity and nostalgia of traditional kopitiam experiences enjoyed across generations. Together, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Oriental Kopi celebrate not only beloved dishes and coffee traditions, but also the everyday moments and connections that define Malaysian dining culture.
For Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, this collaboration further reinforces its distinction as the first five-star luxury hotel in Malaysia to be recognised and certified by the Department of National Heritage Malaysia for championing authentic Malaysian Heritage Cuisine in 2025. Culinary Experience
The collaboration features Lobster Curry Laksa, an exclusive creation available only at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. Conceptualised through a collaboration between Founder Dato’ Calvin Chan Jian Chern and Shangri La Kuala Lumpur Executive Chef Eric Fettke, this refined interpretation reimagines a Malaysian classic with elevated depth while retaining its signature warmth and spice-forward character.
The Curry Laksa Noodle presents the traditional expression of the dish, with coconut-rich broth layered with aromatic spices and served with noodles, tofu puffs, fish cakes and eggs. Familiar, comforting and generously spiced, it reflects the enduring appeal of Malaysia’s laksa culture.
Signature Curry Laksa Noodle with Lobster is an exclusive creation from the collaboration between Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Oriental Kopi, available only at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. It presents an elevated interpretation of Curry Laksa Noodle, featuring handmade noodles in a fragrant broth prepared with a selected blend of eight spices and fresh coconut milk, accompanied by lobster, tofu puffs, fish cakes and eggs.
Signature Nasi Lemak with Ayam Berempah highlights Oriental Kopi’s Guinness World Record-winning Nasi Lemak, recognised for the “Most Servings of Nasi Lemak Sold in 8 Hours” with 11,446 packs. Fragrant pandan rice is paired with Oriental Egg, sambal and chicken marinated in a blend of eight spices, delivering layers of richness, spice and comfort that define this national favourite.
Signature Mee Siam is a stir-fried vermicelli noodles brought alive with the fragrance of dried shrimps, garlic and chillies, finished with Oriental Egg and homemade sambal. The dish carries a gentle smokiness and savoury depth reminiscent of traditional home-style cooking, balanced with a subtle tang and warmth.
Butter Kaya Toast is presented in its most nostalgic form, golden toasted bread layered with house-made kaya and chilled butter. Simple and unpretentious, it evokes the everyday ritual of kopitiam breakfasts shared over unhurried conversation.
The Egg Tart offers a delicate contrast, with 128 layers of flaky pastry encasing a smooth caramelised filling. Light, buttery and gently sweet, it reflects the craftsmanship behind a classic café staple.
Completing the experience, ‘Oriental Kopi’ coffee is brewed from a golden-ratio blend of high-quality Arabica, Robusta and Liberica coffee beans, carefully roasted at high temperatures to unveil a bold aroma and deep flavour profile, creating an authentic Malaysian-style kopi experience.
Distinctly Malaysian in character, it anchors the menu with familiar warmth and clarity. Each item from the menu is served with Oriental Kopi, except for the Egg Tart. Prices start from RM8 nett.
