It’s been 4 years since The Rose (더로즈) visited Malaysia but the wait has been worth it. This week, Black Roses (as fans are lovingly called) got to realise their dream by seeing Kim Woosung (vocalist and guitarist), Park Dojoon (keyboardist and vocalist ), Lee Hajoon (drummer) and Lee Jaehyeong (bassist) perform live in Mega Star Arena.
During the “Dawn to Dusk” concert, the quartet brought us on a journey throughout their 23-song setlist. If anything, the otherworldly visuals were just as captivating as their music. From kicking things off on a high note with “Eclipse” then transitioning effortlessly into “Dawn” and “You’re Beautiful” (both taken from their album “Dual”), where the stage reflected warm orange and red hues with hazy smoke, we knew we were in for a treat.
“Red” was a nice moment when our ears were blessed with Woosung’s soulful vocals, where fans were also encouraged to participate along. We also like that The Rose had a well-balance setlist with ballads like “She’s in the rain”, to the infectious hit “Sorry”, and the energetic “Back to me”.
Towards the end of the show with “Cosmo” and “Wonder”, we were truly in awe of the band’s artistry and showmanship. Watching them on YouTube and Tiktok is one thing, experiencing them live was on a whole different level. Don’t just take our word for it though.
