The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme was officially launched earlier today (Wednesday, 24th February), with our PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin receiving the honour as the first individual to take the vaccine jab in Malaysia.

Naturally, people are curious as to what will happen after getting vaccinated, given that many are still dubious about it. Fret not, guys! A Twitter user, Dr. Wani @syazwanimsd recently shared her experience receiving the vaccine injection in India last Saturday.

According to Dr. Wani, who works as a dentist, the type of vaccine she received in the country is Covishield (Viral vector) produced by AstraZeneca. While in Malaysia, they will receive a pfizer (mRNA) typed vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNtech. “So what’s the difference between these two? pfizer uses messenger RNA while Covishield uses viral vector. The method of storing this vaccine is also different. This is among the reason why India chose this type of vaccine,” she revealed.

In another tweet thread, Dr. Wani also detailed on how she felt post-vaccinated. The frontliner dished, “There will be a few temporary side effects that are commonly experienced by vaccine receivers. This include dizziness, fatigue, muscle ache, and fever. All of these are short-lived flu-liked symptoms.” She also added that these side effects are normal as the body is producing new antibodies and strengthening the immune system. In fact, these symptoms are commonly felt after a day or a week of being injected.

At the same time, Dr. Wani also advised everyone to get enough rest and sleep to ensure the side effects does not last long. She reassured everyone by writing, “Don’t be afraid to get vaccinated. As I’ve explained earlier, there will always be side effects but it’s only temporary. Let us all spread awareness and at the same time, get rid of the skeptical views about the Covid-19 vaccine.”

Hopefully, Dr. Wani’s sharing will help in shedding some light on everyone’s concerns regarding the Covid-19 vaccine.
