The advertisement titled, “Twins to let go”, also went viral on various social media platforms such as Whatsapp. When the police got wind of the couple putting the newborn children on sale, investigation was carried out and the teenage boy as well as his girlfriend were arrested at separate locations.

“The 20-year-old woman was detained at her house in Setapak around 8pm while her boyfriend who was two years younger was nabbed an hour later at his house in Ampang. The suspects were believed to have advertised their four-months-old twins for RM15,000 on a website on Friday,” City police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim was quoted as saying.

Rest assured that the newborn twins have been delivered to the Social Welfare Department. The case is currently being investigated under Section 48 of the Child Act 2001.

Many netizens online feel that the popular online website should be held accountable as well. Do you agree?
