Malaysian-born actress Angie Cheong (張慧儀) made a name for herself in the Hong Kong entertainment industry in the 1990s, appearing in shows like “Journey To The West (西游记)” and “A Kindred Spirit (真情)”. Recently, the star promoted an online shopping mall but has since found herself in an alleged scam involving over 50 victims.
According to reports, the actress recently appeared in a live stream for the online shopping mall The High Table/Crazy Little Red Rabbit (疯狂小红兔) to promote reselling items from well-known luxury brands. Many customers have bought from the mall under Angie’s recommendation. However, once they received their items, the customers claimed they were not authentic as advertised. Many have taken to social media to call out Angie and the mall for defrauding customers.

According to the post, the buyers are now seeking compensation for receiving fake goods. The group also called out Angie, criticising her for working with the company despite not verifying the authenticity of the products sold on the platform. Many also argued that she should’ve been more vigilant, given her influence as a public figure. The post also alleged that the shopping mall threatened the affected customers, trying to silence the issue.
The High Table has since responded to the claims, denying that the items sold were fake. The online shopping mall also said it would take legal action on those spreading the allegations. In the comments section, many other customers have defended the site, arguing that they have never received fake goods from the platform. However, Angie has yet to speak up on the matter.

As of reporting, there are no updates on the case, but the affected customers said they have proof that the items were fake. Whatever the outcome is, we hope all the parties will take full responsibility. What are your thoughts on this?
