Malaysian pop trio KRU has some sad news to share.
Members Datuk Norman, Yusry and Edry Abdul Halim made an official announcement at a press conference in Impiana KLCC Hotel. The group stated that KRU will be disbanded after their final “KRU 25” concert, which is set to take place in Istana Budaya between 4th – 6th May.
Formed in 1992, the talented brothers were at the forefront of the Malaysian music scene with their unique blend of pop, R&B and hip hop. During their two decades of being in the industry, Dato Norman has been quite successful with his business empire. Meanwhile, Yusry has dabbled in films and media events. He even released a solo self-titled album back in 2003. Edry on the other hand, has been consistent in producing and composing music.
“This will be our final concert. With that we are breaking up,” Yusry told reporter early today (Wednesday, 18th April). In conjunction with their concert, KRU also released a compilation album consisting 30 songs. One of which is a new track titled “Tahan Lama”. “The song is a statement of success not only of KRU’s but any individual,” Erdy shared.
“I think we have achieved everything we wanted to do as a group. Each of us have our own responsibilities and respective projects. It’s time for us to move forward,” said Norman as he thanked the faithful fans over the years and his loved ones.
