Maintain Your Privacy By Disabling Your “Off-Facebook Activity” Feature

Beware guys! If you feel like Facebook is keeping track on each and every of your move online, then you can put a stop to it by adjusting your “Off-Facebook Activity” feature.

The “Off-Facebook Activity” was first introduced worldwide on 28th January this year, where the platform gains data outside of your usual Facebook activity as well.

For those who are curious, you can click on the feature through your own Facebook account, and a list of information and data that businesses and organisations share with Facebook will be shown on the page.

Back on 19th April (Sunday), a user named Richard Glam took to Facebook to warn others on the new feature. According to him, Facebook has been “monitoring and tracking” what people do when they’re not online via the “Off-Facebook Activity” feature for the past 8 weeks.

In the post, Richard also shared some tips on how one can disable this function. He further advised fellow users to clear their history on the tool as well. For those who are curious, here’s how you can de-activate the feature, as shared by Richard himself online:

  1. Go to Facebook settings.
  2. Scroll down to Your Facebook Information.
  3. Go to Off-Facebook Activity.
  4. Click on More Options.
  5. Go into Manage Future Activity and turn it off.

Additionally, users can opt to disconnect their Off-Facebook Activity, which will disable past activities from their account. However, turning off this function means that they will no longer be able to use their Facebook account to log into other apps or sites. Instead, they might have to create a new login for those pages.

Facebook will still receive information about the activities on the site. The difference is that it won’t be related to your account anymore.
