Local model Zahnita Wilson has never been afraid to call out rude netizens for their uncalled-for remarks. Her social media has also served as a safe space for women to share their experiences with one another, and many have commended the working mother for sharing so much of her life with her followers, allowing them to relate to her.
However, no one could have anticipated the horror she has endured behind the camera. Earlier today (Monday, 2 December), the 39-year-old posted a photo showing bruise marks on her face, allegedly caused by her husband. Here’s what happened:
Since October, Zahnita Wilson has been posting updates about her personal life and her Humble Pie business, with many of these posts featuring her wearing sunglasses indoors. Word on the street has it that the model was likely hiding her injuries from her fans, to prevent them from worrying. “I didn’t want to do this… but I am forced to. This is why I left my old house… and why I sometimes wear sunglasses,” she wrote in her caption.
As seen in the photo above, the bruise below her left eye has worsened. Although she did not specify how exactly she sustained the injury, it has been speculated that she is suffering from domestic violence at the hands of her husband, Abdul Zachery Ghouse. Looking back at her previous post on Friday (30 November), the bruise was somewhat visible when she appeared on camera to announce that she had moved to a new home, a move she had originally claimed was due to the expansion of her business.
Sadly, at the time of writing, Zahnita has yet to share the full story of the possible terrors she may have faced, as well as the current well-being of her children. Shortly after posting the photos, many of her celebrity friends, including Sarimah Ibrahim, Sharifah Sahirah and Yasmin Hani were shocked to learn what had happened to the model. Fans even suggested that the abuse may have been ongoing ever since she and her husband decided not to proceed with their divorce in 2015.
According to previous reports, Zahnita filed for divorce in 2012 due to irreconcilable differences, but her husband refused to let her go. They then decided to reconcile and save their marriage. The two were last seen photographed together in a family photo during the Hari Raya celebrations back in April, with no one suspecting that anything might be wrong. If Zahnita is truly going through the worst, then we can only hope that things will turn out for the better for her and her children.
