While different people see success in many different ways, it’s safe to say that conquering a literal mountain is a feat for just about anyone. Recently, local actress Joey Leong (梁祖仪) shared that she had crossed off a long-time goal from her bucket list – reaching the peak of Mount Kinabalu.
Joey took to social media to share the incredible news with her fans and followers. The public figure wrote in her post, “Reached the summit of Mount Kinabalu Low’s Peak in tears. Grateful for the sunny weather at (the) summit despite the intense, relentless wind.”. Joey also said that after clearing the summit, she had a newfound understanding of why climbers would endure such hardship to reach the peak, adding that the view from the top of Mount Kinabalu was spectacular.
Joey also shared some photos taken at Low’s Peak, including one where she posed with an RM100 note. The actress, who turns 30 in September, revealed that she had always wanted to summit Mount Kinabalu before hitting the big 3-0. She also said that before the trip, she received a little scepticism from some people but added that the doubts encouraged her even more. Towards the end of her post, Joey took the opportunity to thank her friends for their support and motivation throughout her journey.
Many fans, and even some fellow celebrities like content creator May Ho and model-actress Sandra Lim, have since shared congratulatory messages to Joey on her new achievement. Some even said that the star’s story has inspired them to follow suit, adding they also want to try to climb Mount Kinabalu. Meanwhile, others hope that the actress will enjoy the rest of her stay in Sabah.
Besides a successful summit, Joey has a few other things to celebrate, including the premiere of her upcoming project, the Astro Original series “X-Change”. We would also like to congratulate Joey on this momentous achievement – and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the future!
