Celebrities often have to deal with fake news and false allegations that can damage their reputation. Recently, local actor Eric Lay (赖宏恩) had to speak up and clarify the rumours that he was in a relationship with a former assistant.
According to news outlets, rumours surfaced on social media claiming the Malaysian actor was dating a former assistant and had an “emotional dispute” with the individual. There are also allegations that the former staff experienced unfavourable treatment from Eric and his company. The 30-year-old has since broken his silence on the issue, clarifying the accusations in a statement on his Instagram account.

Eric denied all the allegations, stressing that all the rumours were fabricated. In his statement, he denied the rumours of a relationship with his staff, saying he never contacted any of his assistants outside of work. The star also clarified rumours that he forced his staff to sleep in the same room when travelling for work, saying his company will always provide separate rooms for him and his assistants.
The public figure also touched on the claims that he and his company mistreated his assistant, saying he had never received any complaints from his staff. Eric also denied the allegations that his company forced his staff to cover up a car accident, saying the accident was the accuser’s private matter unrelated to work. Eric has since lodged a report against the person spreading the false news, saying he’ll continue to take legal action to protect his image.

However, Eric acknowledged that if his former staff felt harassed during their employment, they are welcome to lodge a police report, and he will actively cooperate with authorities. We sincerely hope these allegations are untrue and urge the public to refrain from spreading false news.
