No matter the platform, influencers often find themselves the topic of conversation for many reasons. Following the launch of preorders for the new iPhone 15 models in Malaysia, local influencers Ceddy Ang, Khairul Aming and Azfar Heri have excitedly shared that they have successfully preordered the phone through their Twitter accounts.
A tweet by user Lola then shared the moment when the men tweeted about their successful purchase, along with the caption “Young, rich and famous”.
The tweet mostly received positive responses from netizens showing awe at the three influencers and wishing for their own blessing. However, several netizens weren’t so happy about the three buying the phone and mocking them for the purchase. Many people have defended the influencers, saying they could use the new gadget for their content and improve the quality.
As the tweet labelled the three individuals as young, rich and famous, few individuals had undermined their popularity. A few comments towards YouTuber Azhar Heri implied that he’s unknown and “cringe”. However, supporters responded to these comments, saying he is an immensely popular entrepreneur with a huge following on social media. Another individual had specifically targeted food vlogger Ceddy Ang and mocked his appearance, but several netizens quickly defended the influencer.
While not directly responding to the unsavoury comments, Azfar Heri and Ceddy Ang have spoken about netizens who spread unnecessary hate on the internet. In one of Azfar’s tweets, the 25-year-old wrote, ”Don’t be hateful towards people. It’s everyone’s own blessing. Be careful when speaking ill because it might come back to you.” Meanwhile, in a tweet promoting a local cafe, Ceddy tweeted, “Stop using your time to send hate to strangers.” He also previously tweeted, “Thank you for the kind words”, and shared his gratitude to several tweets regarding the hate comments.
We can never please everyone on the internet – but kudos to these men for not letting the hate comments bring them down.
