Zheng Cheng Mao was a famous computer expert and the former director of the Institute of Computing Technology. However, during his time serving the institute, he was entrusted to be the chairman of Lenovo from 1988 to 2009 after encouraging and supporting researchers to found the New Technology Development Company, Lenovo’s predecessor.

The former chairman had always been exceptional in the field of computers, even being a founder in the field of magnetic storage in China. In 1984, he was named as one of the first batches of young to middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in China. Cheng Mao was also acknowledged as an important leader, supporter and promoter in Lenovo’s founding and development.

The obituary revealed that Zheng Cheng Mao had passed away at age 92 on 4th March in Beijing at 10:48pm.
