So many big sports events are happening this month like the SEA Games in Hanoi and the Thomas Uber Cup in Bangkok. It’s no surprise that sports fans are being well-fed with all that’s going on right now. Another sports event that is currently going live is The Thailand Open.
For those who are not familiar or are new to the sports world, The Thailand Open is an open international badminton championship held in Thailand since 1984. Lee Zii Jia took part in the tournament and fans got to see more than just his killer badminton skills.
Malaysian badminton player Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) competed in the The Thailand Open this year and managed to rise victorious. The 24-year-old gave an impressive performance in the men’s singles final against China’s Li Shi Feng (李诗沣). The Malaysian athlete is the 3rd Malaysian to win the championship title.
Fans showed love and support for the badminton player but there was also something else they were looking forward too. Zii Jia finally fulfilled his promise to fans that he’ll do a TikTok dance challenge video if he wins The Thailand Open championship.
In a series of Facebook videos posted by the Badminton Association of Thailand on Facebook, we can see SEA Games gold medalist shyly doing two TikTok dance challenges: BBIBBI (삐삐) by IU (아이유) and Bow Chicka Wow Wow by Mike Posner. In the videos, we can hear loud cheering and laughter by supporters as Zii Jia does the dance challenges.
Fans were over the moon and showed the videos some love with many commenting how cute and shy he was while doing the challenges. Most netizens tagged their friends in the comments to share their excitement and so that more people can witness the athlete’s adorableness.
Other than the dance challenges, another video was posted on the Facebook page with the new Thailand Open champion holding the trophy and thanking his supporters. “Thanks to all the world fans. This title means a lot to me, I’m very happy and I will keep trying my best”, he said.
