An unfortunate issue that continues to plague the Korean entertainment industry is the presence of stalkers, often referred to as sasaengs. Many idols and actors have spoken openly about their distressing encounters with these obsessive fans.
Super Junior (슈퍼주니어) leader Leeteuk (이특) even publicly called out a sasaeng after they broke into his home twice. From airport mobs and hidden recordings in private spaces, this ongoing problem has raised serious concerns about celebrity safety and privacy in the industry.

Recently, actor Lee Dong-wook (이동욱) has found himself among those affected. His agency, Kingkong by Starship, has issued a stern warning following repeated invasions of the actor’s privacy. In a statement released on 14th October (Tuesday), the company condemned the persistent inappropriate behaviour and announced its decision to take strong legal action against individuals who continue to violate the actor’s personal boundaries.
According to the agency, there have been numerous instances of individuals attempting to contact the actor directly, showing up at his unofficial schedules, and even visiting his private residence without permission. Some have reportedly left inappropriate letters and attempted to obtain his private travel details through unauthorised means.

In its official statement, Kingkong by Starship emphasised that such actions will no longer be tolerated. The agency declared its intent to pursue “strict legal action” against any form of privacy infringement, including unauthorised visits, leaks of personal information, or stalking activities involving the actor’s private life.
The statement also highlighted the growing issue of fans attempting to track or approach the “Goblin” actor during his overseas or private schedules. It specifically warned that obtaining flight information by improper means or boarding the same flight to initiate contact will be considered a serious invasion of privacy and dealt with through legal channels.

“These actions are clearly illegal. We ask for restraint and cooperation from everyone to ensure the artist’s safety and protect his rights,” the agency stated firmly.
Lee Dong-wook, best known for his roles in “Goblin” (쓸쓸하고 찬란하神-도깨비) and “Tale of the Nine Tailed” (구미호뎐), has maintained a strong fanbase in South Korea and abroad. The agency’s warning serves as a reminder that admiration should not cross personal boundaries, reinforcing the importance of respect for the actor’s privacy both on and off screen.
