Christmas is nigh and we are definitely getting that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes with it. It certainly helps that some of our favourite artistes and idols met up recently! Yup, we’re specifically talking about Datuk Lee Chong Wei (李宗伟), Jackson Wang (王嘉爾/왕잭슨) and JJ Lin (林俊傑).
The trio supposedly met during Jackson’s “Magic Man World Tour” concert here in Malaysia. Both Chong Wei and JJ Lin got to snap a selfie with Jackson. But, it seems the two also took the chance to catch up with each other. Yesterday (21st December), Chong Wei penned a sweet post to JJ Lin, leaving us cooing over their relationship!
Badminton legend Chong Wei has never been one to hold back from revealing his thoughts. In fact, after his selfie with Jackson, Chong Wei wrote a post acknowledging and praising Jackson for all he had achieved. Of course, he didn’t leave JJ out.
“The real man is even more attractive in person than he appears on film. JJ Lin (is) widely regarded as one of the most gifted singers, (and) has been melting hearts with his commanding vocals since 2002,” Chong Wei wrote in his post. He also shared that JJ Lin’s song “小酒窝 (Little Dimple)” had been the song he used to listen to when he thought about his wife, Mew Choo.
“JJ is also a badminton lover, so he loves me. But we are not in love. No love letter. The love songs are not for me,” Chong Wei cheekily added. “Let’s play a game when we get together again JJ.” It didn’t take long for JJ to respond, saying: “I love badminton! Coach me!” Chong Wei was quick to ask JJ to coach him in singing too. “(This is) so I sing better than Lin Dan,” he added.
Fans left teasing comments, asking who the love letter was for. Local influencer Jeff Leong joked “The love letter is only for Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei.” Others voiced their agreement with Chong Wei’s words, and praised JJ’s talent too.
This isn’t the first time the two stars have demonstrated their close friendship. Last year, Chong Wei sent JJ Lin an autographed racket as a gift. At that time, they’d also joked about learning from each other. Well, it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer to see them coach each other!
