“I’m not a mystery. I’m just magic,” reads the tagline of Jackson Wang (王嘉爾/왕잭슨)’s “Magic Man World Tour”. And magic, this man was. The 28-year-old superstar made his highly-anticipated return to Kuala Lumpur for his first ever solo concert in Malaysia and it was 2 full hours of pure entertainment.
“Magic Man” was divided into 4 Acts (Fame, Isolation, Redemption, and Acceptance) – all detailing the highs and lows of his journey from when he started as a K-pop star in GOT7 to being a bonafide icon in his own right. Excited fans who were gathered at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil were in for a treat – especially 2 of them in particular.
All you avid Wang Tai Tai (that’s what the female fans call themselves) out there were probably keeping your fingers crossed for the fan service segment where Jackson Wang would typically pick someone from the front crowd to come up onstage. He’ll then serenade the lucky lady or girl with a slow number.
What struck us was that the entertainer respectfully asked the potential girls in front in the free standing zone if they were single or attached. For those who already have a beau, sorry ladies, but our man of the hour would prefer not to stir any drama or jealousy.
For the lucky girl who got the best seat on the house – right in front of him – even knew every word to “I Love You 3000”. At one point, she even whipped out her phone to record him. Fans praised Jackson for taking off his red suit to cover the girl’s legs so it wouldn’t be exposed to the large screens. What a gentleman!
To our surprise, Jackson decided to invite another female fan up to the stage where he and his dancers performed their slick choreography around her. We could tell that this chick in the white tank top was nervous to have the spotlight on her.
The funny thing was, she mistook Jackson’s handshake as a cue to leave the stage and the singer had to quickly bring back to the front. It was a cute moment. Just like the first fan service, the second girl also got to walk up the extended staircase and enjoy being serenaded by Jackson while thousands of other fans watch.
Guess what y’all? JJ Lin (林俊杰) – who is holding his very own concert at the same venue – dropped by backstage to snap a photo with Jackson Wang yesterday. Even Lee Chong Wei was also in attendance at the performer’s “Magic Man World Tour” last night. Clearly, Jackson is well loved in Malaysia and we hope he’ll finally get the opportunity to enjoy some mamak food here in Kuala Lumpur.
