Have you heard the saying “kiss and don’t tell”? Well, unfortunately for TVB host Eric Tsang (曾志伟) and Malaysian model Lebara (黎峇菈), their kiss went viral!
Apparently, during the model’s recent birthday celebration Eric was seen pressing a quick kiss to Lebara’s cheek. The kiss quickly came under scrutiny, but Eric later explained that it was simply a “birthday kiss”. The host went on to claim that it meant nothing. And yesterday (3rd October), Lebara issued her own response to the matter.
The model released a post on her social’s yesterday to address the uproar over the simple kiss. “A small birthday greeting has made trouble all over the city…” Lebara sighed. “(My) birthday wish was for world peace but it’s the other way around (now). I guess I made the wrong wish~”
Lebara finished her quiet lamentation with a recited quote. “Let it be noisy, I am my own (person), I am confident in myself and indifferent to the world,” she wrote. The model’s post cemented a fact that had been supposedly obvious to some; she had not been uncomfortable with the cheek kiss.
Her response garnered mixed replies from netizens. While some agreed with her words and cheered her on, others were of a different mind. “Know how to protect yourself,” one netizen urged with others advising caution. “(You’re) self-destructing, no one cares,” another said snidely. However, a few felt that Lebara had benefited from the incident as many now knew of her.
Well, the 26-year-old certainly had a eventful birthday! Although she certainly enjoyed this one, we hope her next celebration will be less scrutinised.
