54-year-old American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has recently published an apology video after a 2016 security camera footage was leaked (dated 5th March 2016) exposing the mogul for abusing his then-girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura or Cassie.
The video showed clips of Sean dragging, kicking, and pulling the now 37-year-old singer and dancer down the hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. Since the release of the video, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has taken to Instagram to issue an apology.
“I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he shared on his Instagram story. The public figure also stated that he is currently going to rehab and asks God for forgiveness every day and is working to make himself a better man.
It was revealed that Sean had paid the hotel a whopping USD$50,000 (RM 235,350) to prevent the video from being released. An ongoing lawsuit against the American rapper has since been coming to light as of November last year, with a number of victims coming forth with allegations of Diddy sexually harassing them. The entertainer then took to his Instagram to issue a post “Time tells the truth” which he captioned, “L O V E”.
Fans wasted no time in commenting on both the apology video and the issued picture regarding his lawsuits. Surprisingly enough, amidst the hate he was receiving, this father of seven was also receiving loving and supportive comments, as shown in the picture below.
Cassie, who was signed to Diddy’s label, was only 19 years old and the rapper was 37 years old when they started their on-and-off relationship. In November 2023, Cassandra filed a lawsuit claiming that she was subjected to rape and repeated physical abuse by Diddy.
Meredith Firetog, Cassandra’s attorney, said in a statement that the apology video was posted mainly to help himself rather than to help those he had hurt. When Cassandra and other victims came forward, Diddy claimed that his victims were looking for a “payday” and were only compelled to apologise due to the security footage leak.
With numerous allegations and suspicions against this 54-year-old rapper going on for years, and multiple denials and lawsuits dismissed due to lack of evidence or failure to report sooner, it was only a matter of time before the truth came out. As stated on the musician’s Instagram post, “time tells [the] truth”.
