Universal Studios Beijing is set to be the biggest of all the Universal Studio parks and it’s set to open its doors in 2021.

Owned by the Beijing International Resort Co. Ltd., a joint venture between the Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co. Ltd. and Universal Parks & Resorts, the resort is set to house 7 major zones.

According to Travel Wire Asia, Universal Studios Beijing will become:

  • The 5th Universal Studios-branded theme park in the world
  • The 7th Universal-built park overall
  • 3rd in Asia, after Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Beijing is reportedly twice the size of Universal Studios Japan and 5 times the size of Universal Studios Singapore, making it the largest Universal Studio park. The 7 themed zones will include:

1. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

2. Jurassic World

3. Kung Fu Panda

4. Transformers: Metrobase

5. Minion Land

6. Waterworld

7. Hollywood Boulevard

Tom Mehrmann, president and general manager of Universal Beijing Resort, said this in an official statement:

“Our theme park will showcase the best Universal rides, as well as all-new, unique experiences created to reflect China’s rich cultural heritage. We are looking forward to sharing these exciting experiences with millions of visitors.”

An almost 6-minute video was recently released featuring Li Bingbing (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”) and Liu Haoran (aka Turbo Liu, the voice of Hiccup in the Chinese edition of “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”), as well as filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou.

The clip basically gives us walkthrough of the various lands through 3D concept art via computer animation. Watch it here:

Universal Studios Beijing will also house 2 new resort hotels. The first is Universal Studios Grand Hotel, which will have a modern spin on the Golden Age of Hollywood. Meanwhile, NUO Resort Hotel will be a “luxurious excape” inspired by China’s ancient royal garden.
