A Setting Powder Made with Skin In Mind
The Cloud Set collection began with Kosas founder Sheena, who wanted makeup that could control shine while still letting skin look naturally glowing. As someone with sensitive and acne-prone skin herself, she also wanted the collection to work across different skin types.
While developing the original Cloud Set Baked Powder, she discovered a baking method that allowed skincare ingredients to be added to a talc-free formula while keeping a skinlike finish.
Cloud Set Loose Powder came next, created as an ultra-translucent, talc-free option for baking and locking makeup in place. A special milling process gives the powder its lightweight, sheer and blurring feel without leaving skin overly matte or dry.
The skincare side continues with a clean blend of plant-based and mineral powders, while bamboo stem extract helps absorb excess sebum to leave skin feeling soft and fresh.
The formula is also non-acnegenic, safe for sensitive skin and eyes, hypoallergenic and free from talc, silicone, and fragrance. It has been dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested.
Eight Translucent Shades for Setting And Brightening
Cloud Set Loose Powder comes in eight translucent shades, split between competition shades for all-over setting and brightening shades for targeted areas.
The complexion range has a natural finish and includes Translucent Velvety, alongside four new shades: Translucent Sway, Translucent Fluttery, Translucent Toasty, and Translucent Cozy.
For targeted brightening, there are three shades with a natural radiant finish: Translucent Candy, Translucent Peachy, and Translucent Buttery. These use colour theory to help cancel the look of darkness and discoloration.
The new competition shades were introduced after the brand heard from its community that they wanted the same translucent finish in shades designed for setting makeup across the whole face.
And Yes, You Can Bake With It
Cloud Set Loose Powder can be used in a few different ways depending on the finish you want.
For all-over setting, Kosas recommends using a Powder Brush to lightly dust a complexion shade across the face, focusing on areas where oil tends to appear. A Face Detailer Brush can be used for smaller areas such as under the eyes.
For baking, apply a generous amount of either a complexion or brightening shade with the Kosas Cloud Puff to areas that tend to crease or become oily. Leave it for a few minutes before brushing away the access.
For targeted brightening, apply one of the brightening shades under the eyes, around the mouth or anywhere you want to reduce the look of darkness.
Kosas says the powder is clinically proven to set makeup for 12 hours. In a consumer perception study of 30 subjects after one day of use, 100% agreed that it instantly brightened and made their skin look airbrushed. A separate clinical measurement study involving 34 subjects also found that 100% experienced measured oil reduction.
