The Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) is back with its highly anticipated Race Weekend, with 42,000 participants all set to take part. This year’s event will take place at Dataran Merdeka at the end of this week for 2 days, Saturday (5th October) and Sunday (6th October).
As the marathon approaches, the public is advised to plan their weekend accordingly, as several major roads in the city will be inaccessible. Road closures will take effect as early as this Thursday (4th October).

The closures will be implemented in stages, with 13 roads affected from 5am to 10am on the first day. Meanwhile, 29 roads will be closed from 3am to 11am on the second day. Since the marathon starts and finishes at Dataran Merdeka, the road in front of the venue, which is Jalan Raja, will have an extended blockade from 8pm on Friday (4th October) to 12pm on Monday (7th October).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that 16 senior officers and 345 junior police officers from the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will be overseeing the event. They will be responsible for managing the sealed-off roads on both days.
