Klook Launches Global Search To Reward Five Travel Planners With An All-Expenses-Paid Trip To Switzerland

Following research revealing travel planners as the least-thanked people in every group chat, Klook is inviting travellers around the world, including Malaysians, to nominate (or self-nominate) the planner who deserves a trip they do not have to plan. The global campaign, ‘Thank You, Travel Planners’, will reward five deserving travel planners with the holiday they have always planned for everyone else.

Whether it is a weekend getaway with friends or a family holiday, every group trip typically has one person leading the planning. The one who builds the spreadsheet. The one fielding “Wait, what time do we leave?” texts at midnight. The one who takes the blame when the itinerary does not please everyone, and rarely gets the credit when it does.

Klook’s recent survey of 2,725 travellers across 10 markets confirms what planners have long suspected: travel planning ranks among the least-thanked tasks people do for others, behind everyday favours like carrying bags or holding doors. More than eight in 10 planners say they spend over 10 hours organising a single group trip, which they estimate is worth over US$50 (approximately RM205) an hour. This is also echoed in Malaysia, where more than seven in 10 (75.8%) travel planners say organising a week-long group holiday takes longer than 10 hours.

For many travel planners, the responsibility does not end once someone else takes over, as 42.4% admit they quietly and anxiously watch from the sidelines – always checking, second-guessing and ready to step in if needed.

Handing a trip to another person does not remove the work; it just relocates it. Someone still has to juggle the tabs, chase the group chat, and decide. For many, ensuring the trip runs smoothly remains a responsibility they carry until everyone returns home.

“We built Klook to make travel planning simpler, so travellers can spend less time on admin and more time on experiences,” says Marcus Yong, VP of Global Marketing at Klook. “Now we’re taking that promise one step further with a fully planned getaway for five travel planners who always get travel right for their friends and families. It is their turn to take a vacation from planning vacations,” he adds.

To demonstrate appreciation for the planners in every group, Klook is launching a global search from 10th to 31st August 2026 for five travel planners who are really good at doing their job and really tired from doing it. The five winners will be treated to a 7-day hosted trip to Switzerland in December 2026, where their only task is to show up.

Alongside the global prize, Klook Malaysia will also select three local winners from all Malaysian entries. The grand prize winner will receive a mystery trip for two, while the second and third prize winners will receive Klook eGift Cards worth RM500 and RM300 respectively. Entering is simple. Nominate the travel planner in your life (or yourself) by sharing the story of how they brought the whole trip together. What did they organise? What challenges did they overcome? And why do they deserve this getaway?

Your story will help Klook understand why they deserve a vacation from planning vacations. For bonus points, all Malaysians are encouraged to upload a 60-second video or share a link (TikTok, YouTube or Google Drive) showcasing the travel planner in action. Some of the samples which can be included are their carefully crafted itineraries, meticulous planning process or memorable moments that highlight the role they played in making the holiday a success.
