KLIA Imposes New RM2 Entry Fee For Grab Pickups?

Vacations already take up so much of our money, from having to spend on transportation, food, shopping, and more. E-hailing apps like Grab, MyCar, EzCab, and more have certainly changed the way we commute for the better. If anything, we’ve certainly enjoyed the benefit of convenience.

But nowadays, with the rise of e-hailing applications, people are looking for more ways to benefit from this simple yet beneficial transaction. So, when Kuala Lumpur International Airports (KLIA) supposedly imposed an additional fee for Grab pickups, the public wasn’t happy with it.

KLIA 1 and KLIA 2 are now imposing a new fee for all GrabCar pick-ups within the terminal. Grab Car passengers now have to pay an additional RM2 fee on top of the original charge and the toll charges just for their drivers to go through the pick-up terminal.

On top of the RM2 fee, there are also so many new rules imposed on GrabCar drivers. Drivers are forced to contact the passengers to ask for their exact location and time so that both parties can avoid any extra charges. If the time limit of five minutes is passed, KLIA would then charge an extra RM10!

  • “So greedy“
  • “Hmm, interesting way to capture part of the profits.“
  • “Were there any charges when taxis were around? People struggle to make ends meet, yet they choose to be an opportunist. What do we get with RM2? Access to lounge?“
  • “If like this, people won’t follow the designated pickup area. Might as well ask the grab (driver) to pick up at departure level.“
  • “I cannot say how much since RM2 is the minimum. Another alternative is to take KLIA transit to Salak Tinggi (for) RM5. Then (book a) Grab from there. The fare should be cheaper and can wait for however long.“

Scrolling through the Lowyat Forum comments, most netizens are angry at the ridiculous charges. Though there are some who are curious about the charge and whether it comes with better facilities. Some also gave other alternatives to avoid any of this happening. What do you guys think?
