Malaysians, there’s reason to celebrate.
The immigration service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been voted as the best in the world, ahead of Hong Kong International Airport and Tokyo International Airport, which are ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The results were from the Skytrax World Airport Awards, also known as the Passengers Choice Awards, and was announced during the award ceremony in Amsterdam yesterday (Tuesday, 14th March).
Apart from the aforementioned category, Malaysia was ranked 7th in having the world’s best airport staff. Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) also made it to the best Low-Cost Airline Terminal list, ranking 3rd.
However, Malaysia dropped 10 places to rank 34th in 2017’s “The World’s Top 100 Airports” list. Singapore’s Changi Airport ranked number 1, followed by Tokyo International Airport and Incheon International Airport. This is Changi Airport’s 5th consecutive year at the top of the list.
Other categories include world’s cleanest airport, best airport shopping, best airport dining, best airport security, best baggage delivery, and best airport leisure amenities. Sadly, Malaysia didn’t rank in any of it.
13.82 million airline passengers from 105 different countries answered the survey between July 2016 and February 2017.
