Sexual slavery is not okay.

Recently, the Putrajaya Immigration Department Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Unit found 2 young Indonesian women in a 2-storey shophouse in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

Immigration Director-General Datuk Sakib Kusmi said that the victims were suspected to be victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. He also added the they were locked in a room and forced to have sex without payment.

“The rescue operation found that 2 female victims, aged 19 and 20 respectively, was brought to the country from Indonesia by a syndicate for the purpose of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. We believe this Indonesian syndicate was working with a Malaysian syndicate to bring in women from Indonesia,” Sakib said in a statement on Thursday (26th May).

Apparently, the victims came to Malaysia because they were under the impression that they can work as waitresses with high salaries. Their huge debt with the agent was used as a reason to threaten and force them into sexual slavery.

The suspects, a Malaysian and and an Indonesian woman, were arrested. They were charged at the Klang Session Court on 9th May and were sentenced to 6 years jail.
