Are y’all excited for this week’s holidays? While many Malaysians will be out and about during the Thaipusam public holiday, do note that there will be traffic congestion.
Local reports announced that several major roads in the Klang Valley will be closed starting today (Tuesday, 30th January). This is to make way for the procession of the silver chariot during the Thaipusam festival, which falls on 31st January (Wednesday).
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya said that the routes will be closed and reopened in stages between 30th January and 2nd February. According to him, the chariot procession would start at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and will end at the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves the following day.

- Jalan Dang Wangi

- Jalan Ipoh (Jalan Salleh)
- Jalan Perhentian
- Jalan Ipoh Batu 5
- Jalan Hang Kasturi
- Jalan Hang Lekir
- Kampung Melayu Batu Caves traffic light (Al-Amaniah)
- Batu Caves exit from MRR2
- Jalan Perusahaan to the Batu Caves Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple
- Sri Gombak MRR2 exit heading towards Jalan Perusahaan
- Third junction along Jalan SBC8 and Jalan Batu Caves Lama
