As of yesterday (Monday, 20th April), more areas in Kuala Lumpur have been placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO). The Kuala Lumpur wholesale market and Kuala Lumpur wholesale market are the latest to have been placed under lockdown.

As such, 15000 residents living in the neighbourhood are required to undergo screenings for Covid-19. China Press reported that the whole area has since been fenced by barbed wire.

Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa announced that 6 testing stations will be stationed in the EMCO areas and divided into 8 parcels. They are:

  1. Parcel A (Jalan 6/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara)
  2. Parcel B (Jalan 6/3A and 9/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara)
  3. Parcel C (Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara)
  4. Parcel D (Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara)
  5. Parcel E1 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D)
  6. Parcel E2 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D)
  7. Parcel E3 (Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B)
  8. Parcel F (Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar)

“We expect to have between 1,500 to 2,000 residents tested for Covid-19 daily and hope to screen all the residents, numbering between 15,000 to 16,000, within a week,” said Annuar, adding that 500 medical staffs will be on duty to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“We have taken the necessary measures to ensure that the movement of people from their home to the testing centres is done in an orderly manner. There will be a limit of 50 people per batch, supervised by 10 policemen and 3 army personnel,” Annuar continued.

“Apart from the residents in the EMCO area, we are also discussing the possibility of testing lorry drivers who transport produce to the wholesale market,” he was quoted as saying. This 6th EMCO for the aforementioned locations will last till 3rd May.

Malay Mail has also provided an infographic visual of all 6 EMCOs in Malaysia and 5 things that take place during the lockdown. Check it out:
