#CaptainAmerica3: Kevin Feige Reveals Black Panther’s Role in “Civil War”

Black Panther is more than just a typical superhero. He’s a ruler, a ruler of an African country.

In case you didn’t know, Black Panther (also known as T’Challa) is the first biological son of T’Chaka and the King of the African nation of Wakanda, a land that is scientifically advanced as compared to the Western nations. The rulers of Wakanda protect their native as the Black Panther is a traditional warrior role with the responsibility has been passed down for generations.

In an interview with Birth.Movies.Death, Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige revealed Black Panther’s role in the film and the reason behind his debut appearance in “Captain America:Civil War“.

He said:

The reason we introduced him in Civil War is because we needed a third party. We needed fresh eyes who wasn’t embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve. We said, “We need somebody like Black Panther… why don’t we just use Black Panther?” That’s how it went in the development process.

As Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw explained in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” that the Vibranium (a powerful element which Captain’s shield is made of) comes from Wakanda and with the earth-shattering events in Sokovia, that’s when the Black Panther swoops in and takes his place to save the world.

Feige added:

Today, pre-Civil War, post-Ultron I think he and his father are saying, “A bunch of vibranium just got out of here and wreaked a lot of havoc. Maybe we can’t stay behind these borders anymore, maybe we have to stick our heads out and make at least an attempt to be a part of the rest of the world right now, while at the same time protecting our people.” That’s sort of where we meet him in Civil War.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film stars Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle and Elizabeth Olsen as Black Widow, Iron Man, Falcon, The Vision, Hawkeye, War Machine, and Scarlet Witch individually.
