K-Pop To K-Style: Pott Glasses Rides The Korean Wave With 5D Optical Styling

The Korean Wave, or Hallyu, has had a profound influence on Malaysia’s fashion and beauty scene, far beyond just music and TV. Thanks to the popularity of K-pop, K-dramas, and Korean fashion, Malaysian youth and young adults are increasingly embracing the Korean aesthetic, including eyewear as a fashion statement.

Seeing how K-style has reshaped fashion trends across Asia, Pott Glasses saw the perfect opportunity to evolve its offerings. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea’s Color Convergence Lab (CCL), the brand is redefining the eyewear experience with colour analysis and bespoke personalisation.

This collaboration is set to make Pott Glasses the first optometry brand in Malaysia to offer certified personal colour analysis as part of its eyewear styling services. It enhances the brand’s signature 4D Optical Styling into a next-level 5D experience, offering customers a more tailored, trend-driven, and immersive way to discover frames that truly complement their individuality.

A Fusion of Science and Style

Established in Seoul, CCL has been a pioneer in colour image convergence research, having developed its own H.V.C. Colour System through the CCL Colour Image Convergence Research Institute. This scientific model analyses hues, values, and chroma to determine the most harmonious palette for each individual. Backed by years of research and expertise, the institute also offers professional certifications in personal colour diagnosis and fashion analysis.

“We’re excited to partner with Pott Glasses to bring our colour science expertise to a new market,” said Ji Un Kim, CEO of CCL. “Our mission has always been to make colour accessible and meaningful in everyday life, and through this collaboration, we’re sharing a philosophy that connects colour, identity, and personal expression.”

Pott Glasses’ Co-Founder, Tai Hau Aw, personally visited CCL’s Seoul facility to experience their service first-hand. “The level of precision and personalisation in Korea’s colour consulting industry is remarkable,” said Tai Hau. “When we experienced it ourselves, we saw the potential it could bring to our customers in Malaysia. This partnership allows us to combine CCL’s scientific approach with our understanding of local style and culture.”

Customers who book an appointment at any Pott Glasses outlet can now enjoy the upgraded 5D Optical Styling experience, an evolution of the brand’s signature 4D Optical Styling. The original 4D Optical Styling service helps customers discover eyewear tailored to their prescription, face shape, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences—all while ensuring each frame provides the perfect Asian fit, designed for optimal comfort and balance.

This new 5D experience adds a certified colour analysis component, helping customers identify the shades that best match their personal palette for a fully customised and fashion-forward eyewear experience. By blending K-beauty’s scientific approach, new K-style trends, and Malaysian sensibilities, Pott Glasses aims to create a new benchmark in eyewear personalisation—one where fashion meets function and confidence begins with colour.
